Turkish SENarts Students Share Their Lithuania Journey in Their Own Words
Updated: Sep 24
Some journeys are best remembered through the voices of the people who lived them. For our Turkish SENarts students, the final student mobility in Daugai, Lithuania, became much more than a project activity. It became a week of theatre, discovery, friendship, courage, and memories they will carry with them for a long time.
In April 2026, students from Türkiye travelled to Lithuania as part of the Erasmus+ SENarts project. This mobility marked the final student meeting of the project, making the experience especially meaningful for everyone involved. During the week, students joined drama workshops, explored Lithuanian culture, met international friends, and took part in activities that helped them express themselves with confidence.
Now, through their video diaries, they are sharing the journey in their own words.
Daugai provided a calm and inspiring setting for the week. Away from their usual routines, students could focus on the experience fully. They joined international peers, discovered new surroundings, and became part of a shared learning environment where every activity encouraged participation.
For many students, travelling abroad as part of an Erasmus+ project is a powerful experience. It asks them to step into new spaces, communicate across languages and cultures, and take part in activities that may feel unfamiliar at first. The Lithuanian mobility created space for all of this in a supportive way.
Drama was at the heart of the week. Students took part in workshops and theatre-based activities designed to help them build acting skills while exploring emotions, empathy, and communication.
These activities encouraged students to use more than words. Through movement, facial expression, voice, and group work, they practised how to show feelings and understand the feelings of others. Theatre gave them a safe and creative space to try, make mistakes, laugh, and try again.
The workshops helped students work on important skills, including:
Confidence
Students had opportunities to stand in front of others, take part in scenes, and share ideas.
Empathy
Drama encouraged them to imagine different perspectives and recognise how others might feel.
Teamwork
Many activities asked students to listen, respond, and create something together.
Creative expression
Students explored new ways to communicate through body language, role play, and performance.
Friendship grew through shared tasks and shared free time. Students encouraged each other during workshops. They celebrated small successes. They found joy in group activities and cultural experiences. These moments helped create a warm international atmosphere throughout the week.
The final mobility reminded everyone that arts education can do something powerful. Theatre can help students express emotions, understand others, and feel part of a group. Travel can help them become curious and open to new cultures. International friendship can help them feel connected beyond borders.

A proud ending to the SENarts journey
The final student mobility in Lithuania was a proud and joyful moment for the SENarts project. It brought together drama, cultural learning, personal growth, and friendship in a way that students could truly feel.
Through their video diaries, the Turkish SENarts students now invite others to see the journey through their eyes. Their words capture the excitement of travelling, the joy of creative work, and the value of meeting people from different cultures.
Most of all, their reflections show confidence. They took part, tried new activities, shared their thoughts, and opened themselves to a new experience. That spirit is exactly what made this final mobility so special.
The journey to Daugai may have lasted one week, but its impact will continue through the memories, friendships, and voices of the students who lived it.
